Frequently Asked Questions
|
Dance classes at Midwest Academy of Dance run like a typical school year. We begin in September and end
the session with our annual recital in mid June. We follow Parkway School District with all school closings for
weather situations. Click here for the studio calendar to see other important dates and holiday breaks.
2. Do I need shoes at first? I'm not sure if my dancer is going to like it.
We STRONGLY recommend it. Children will not get the full experience of a dance class without the proper
equipment. It is like sending them to soccer practice without shin guards and cleats.
3. What do I need for dance class?
Dancers need Leotard, Tight, Pink Ballet shoes, Black Tap Shoes and/or Black Jazz Shoes. Colors and styles
vary depending on classes so please see ask for our complete dress code before purchasing anything.
Midwest Academy of Dance offers one stop shopping for all your dance supply needs. We offer complete
packages of quality supplies at affordable prices for your dancers . For package prices click here.
4. How much is this going to cost?
There is a $25 yearly registration fee. This fee includes all administrative costs for your family, all
paperwork and updates and getting your dancer registered into our computer system. This is due at
the time of registration along with your first month’s tuition.
Tuition is based on the number of hours your family dances per week. Tuition is due the 1st class of every
month. Click Here to see Tuition
5. How many performance opportunities do you offer and does everyone get to participate?
We offer two performance opportunities for your dancer. The Nutcracker in December and our Graduation
Performance in June. All dancers are invited and strongly encourage to participate. Visit our
performance opportunities for prices and fees.
6. Does my child have to participate in the recital?
It is strongly recommended that all students participate in the studio's recitals. This is what we work
towards in class. Dance is a performance art and not performing would be like going to soccer practice but
not playing in the games.
7. What happens if my dancer decides dance isn't for her?
No problem! We understand that everyone has different likes and dislikes and dance may not be for
everyone. Withdrawals are to be made by the 20th of the month. There are no refunds once a month of
tuition has been paid and there is no refunds on semester and yearly payments.
If your dancer chooses not to return, you need to fill out a withdrawal form in person in the studio office.
8. Do we stay in the room with the dancers? How do we get to watch?
Each classroom has view windows, which are open during all regular class times. We ask that parents stay
out of the classroom unless the teacher asks for you assistance.
9. When can I register?
Fall registration begins in June. We take all dancers on a first come, first served basis. Classes
do fill quickly; so if you are thinking of registering, don't delay. We will take registration
throughout the year as long as there is room in the class, although if a student joins too late they may
not be able to participate in the performance opportunities. For more information on registration click here.
